If payment is not received within two months of the missing due date, you may be removed from class and all online features. In addition to tuition, all students are required to pay an annual, one-time online fee of $30. This fee grants access to our comprehensive learning library, providing valuable resources to enhance your educational experience throughout the year. Your cooperation in meeting this requirement is greatly appreciated, and it ensures that you have uninterrupted access to the wealth of educational materials available As part of our commitment to maintaining reasonable tuition fees and ensuring the financial stability of the Halau, a mandatory fundraising initiative has been implemented. The halau member agrees to actively engage in provided or personal internal and external fundraising activities with the aim of achieving an annual target of $750.00 by the end of the calendar year. This number can change year upon year with either the rising cost or expenses. However, as stated prior, our commitment is to maintain a reasonable tuition and financial stability to the Halau members with the business at its forefront. The Halau member acknowledges that the prosperity of this fundraising initiative is pivotal for securing the financial stability of the Halau and offering support for various activities. These activities encompass bi-yearly or annual fees, covering competition fees, concert expenses, utilities, storage costs, salaries, rentals, and potential future expenditures. All these details are elaborated upon in an upcoming calendar that our Kumu shares the year prior, ensuring that everyone is well-informed about the forthcoming endeavors and associated financial commitments. Recognizing the challenges associated with fundraising, our Kumu, in his graciousness, understands the effort involved. While we acknowledge that fundraising can be demanding and time-consuming, it remains an integral aspect of being a member of our Halau. The commitment of our dancers in fundraising is paramount, as it sustains our ability to deliver high-quality performances, memorable experiences for our audience and leads up to more opportunities within our community and around the world. Halau members acknowledge the Halau's establishment of acceptable fundraising brackets, which delineate specific limitations on participation and criteria related to performance. As previously mentioned, each Halau member or household is required to achieve the fundraising goal of $750.00 through participation in our provided activities or by utilizing personal means. However, the bracket outlined below provides clarity on the approved figures and the extent of Halau limit participation. Your support in this fundraising endeavor is crucial to the continued success and vibrancy of our Halau. Fundraising activities involve a variety of efforts, including selling tickets, soliciting donations, and volunteering time. It's crucial to acknowledge that there may be upfront costs, which could potentially be reimbursed through active item sales. Halau members may also have additional individual responsibilities to meet personal fundraising goals by specified dates, especially if competing or participating in external concerts provided throughout the year, where payment is required without seeking reimbursement for items that you will keep. In the event of failing to meet the acceptable fundraising goal by the years end, the member is required to cover the costs out of pocket before participating in any activities provided by the Halau moving forward or within the following year.It is essential to clarify that this provision does not constitute a ban or prevent a Halau member from returning to the Halau. Members facing challenges in meeting financial goals are encouraged to communicate with the Kumu or a board member. Kumu Josh will consult with the member privately. The Halau member understands that the Kumu, as the esteemed leader of the Halau, retains absolute discretion and authority to effect changes or grant or deny any exceptions based on certain circumstances, should the need arise throughout anytime of the year. Any Halau member who signs this agreement before the final Halau-provided fundraiser within the year and subsequently leaves the Halau, yet expresses a desire to return, remains bound and obligated to the terms outlined in this agreement for fundraising. If the member still chooses to return, their eligibility will also be subject to the Kumu's acceptance, and they may not be allowed to rejoin until the following year. It is the policy of Kaulana Ka Hale Kula ‘O Na Pua ‘O Ka Aina that dancers may not be part of more than one halau, studio, parks and recreation or groups at a time. This policy applies to all dancers. The purpose of this policy is to ensure that dancers are fully committed to their craft at Kaulana Ka Hale Kula ‘O Na Pua ‘O Ka Aina and are able to give their best effort to the halau. Dancing for multiple studios or groups at the same time can create conflicts of interest and may compromise the integrity and reputation of Kaulana Ka Hale Kula ‘O Na Pua ‘O Ka Aina. Therefore, any dancer found to be enrolled by more than one halau at the same time will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including removal from halau. We understand that life circumstances may change and that sometimes dancers may need to leave the halau unexpectedly. In these cases, we ask that dancers inform the halau board and Kumu as soon as possible and work with the halau to come to a mutually agreed upon resolution if possible. Dancers must give the Kumu notice if they choose to participate in any non-halau workshops sponsored by another group or artist. Whether the workshop or class takes place online or in person. This is out of respect to the Kumu and the integrity of the halau. Please remember that Josh has worked hard to get to his name recognized by folks in the music industry and Hawaiian community. Representation matters and we do not want to tarnish his name or reputation. It is the policy of the halau that all dancers must formally give notice if they choose to depart from the halau. This notice must be given in writing and must be submitted to the halau email at least one month prior to the intended departure date. The purpose of this policy is to ensure that the halau has sufficient time to make any necessary adjustments to its operations or choreography and to plan for the departure of the dancer. It is also meant to ensure that all dancers are held to the same standards of professionalism and commitment to the group. We want to clarify that this course and your time in the halau is not intended to make you a Kumu. While you will certainly gain valuable skills and knowledge through the courses, it is not a comprehensive or certified program for hula teaching. This policy may be revised at any time by the Kumu. All dancers and parents will be notified of any changes to this policy in the future. Disciplinary action taken by Kumu is not intended to be punitive, but rather to correct unacceptable behavior and maintain a positive and professional Halau environment for all. By adhering to these guidelines, we can ensure that we are accountable for our own success as hula dancers and contribute to the success of the Halau as a whole. This policy is effective immediately and supersedes any previous policies or procedures regarding Halau conduct. I understand that if I violate any of the above terms, I may be asked to leave the Halau. I am committed to upholding the integrity and traditions of hula and will do my best to fulfill my responsibilities as a hula dancer. I understand the Kumu reserves the right to make any necessary changes to the class schedule, location and or policies.
